# Walmart

### How Releases Work

Walmart releases products on a first-come, first-served basis through its website, `www.walmart.com`. They usually do not announce a specific drop in advance, and most of the time the release product details are not known until several minutes before the release time. A common pattern is for releases to happen on Wednesday at **9:00 PM EST,** but there have been releases at other times.\

Before a product goes live, Walmart usually places a queue on the product page. This queue works on a first-in, first-out basis, which means the earlier you enter the queue, the earlier you are likely to get through it.

Once you pass the queue, you can add the product to your cart and check out normally.

### Creating Tasks

To run Walmart, select one of the supported regions in the **Site** drop-down when creating a task group

To add a task to the selected group, click the second blue **Add** icon to the right of the group name at the top of the page. This will open the task creation window for that group.

* **Monitor Input (SKU / OID)**: Enter the product SKU or OID of the item you want to check out. For example: 200526739. Note: Running the SKU is specifically for queue release, and running OID is for in-stock products.
* **Product Quantity:** Enter how many of the product you want each task to try to check out.
* **Proxy Group (optional):** Select a proxy group if you want to run your tasks on proxies. Using proxies is highly recommended.
* **Profile Group:** Select the profile group you want your tasks to use.
* **Profile:** Select the specific profile you want the task to use.
* **Account Group:** Select the account group you want your tasks to use.
* **Account:** Select the account you want the task to use. You can select **Match Email To Profile** and it will create the task with the account and profile that share the same email.
* **Task Quantity:** Enter the number of tasks you want to create.

Once your settings are configured, click **Create** to create your tasks.

### Running Releases

Before you can run a Walmart release, you need to do something known as "getting sessions" and "settings profiles

#### Getting Sessions

Walmart requires you to log in to an account in order to make a purchase. Logging in is often slow, and doing it during a release can be very hard when the site starts to error and anti-bot gets stricter. As a result, you want to pre-login to your tasks, which is known as getting and saving sessions. Once the session has been saved, your task does not need to log in the next time it runs, saving you time and speeding up that process during the release.

To get sessions, run default mode tasks with your monitor input as the word 'placeholder' and simply start your tasks. They will begin to log in. In order to log in, Walmart requires a one-time code to be entered, which gets sent to the account email, so you will need to have your IMAP set up, which you can read about here.

Login sessions can last a very long time, but in some cases Walmart may randomly decide to log out of the account, which the task status will show if needed.

#### Setting Profiles

When trying to checkout on Walmart, the task profile info **must** match the info that is set as default on the account. If it does not, the bot will attempt to apply your task profile to the account.

One thing to be aware of is that when the bot needs to apply a card to the account, Walmart will do a $0.00 pre-authorization charge before saving it to the account. Doing this charge too many times in a short time frame will lead to the bank account being rate limited and blocked from adding any more cards to the Walmart account.

If this happens, you need to let your cards cool down for 1–24 hours before trying again. It's suggested to stagger start only a handful per minute to avoid this rate limit.

Once the profile is applied to the account, the next time the task runs it will not need to reapply the profile, but you must still run the task with the same profile.

#### Placeholder&#x20;

Since you often do not know the monitor input for a product until close to release, Valor includes a built-in **placeholder** feature.

By entering the word `placeholder` in the monitor input field, your task will enter a standby mode. It will wait for you to edit the task with the correct SKU once it becomes available. The sku must be added before the release time.

#### Release Time

Walmart often releases on Wednesday at 9:00 PM EST. Close to drop time, site traffic increases a lot, so your tasks will see different errors, which they will need to retry until they go through. As a result, to make the process a little smoother, it's suggested to stagger start 50–200 tasks per minute 30–60 minutes before the release time. This time range can vary, and it's best to test and see what works best for you.
